Why did Charles I become a king?

Charles I became king in 1625 and during his reign amassed one of the largest and most extravagant art collections in Europe. He also spent its entirety in conflict with his Parliament, largely thanks to his efforts to impose an absolute monarchy against the interests of Parliament, his attempts to raise taxes and his marriage to a Catholic.
